Add a little old-world character to a kitchen, dining room or home bar with this wonderfully decorative vintage French wrought iron wine bottle holder.
Made from dark patinated metal, the holder has a tall elegant silhouette with an open circular basket designed to hold a single bottle. The metalwork is full of character, with hand-worked-looking curves, loops and scrolls giving it the appearance of something discovered in a French brocante or old country kitchen.
The particularly lovely feature is the tall decorative carrying handle. Curving ironwork rises high above the bottle basket and finishes with a series of scrolling loops and hooks, turning what could have been a simple practical object into a genuinely decorative piece.
Dimensions
Approximately: 42cm tall × 10cm diameter
The basket is designed to accommodate a standard-sized wine bottle.
Why We Like It
This is exactly the sort of small detail that helps create a relaxed French country kitchen look.
Rather than simply putting a bottle of wine on the table, this gives it a little theatre. Add a favourite bottle and it instantly becomes part of the table setting.
We particularly like the aged dark finish. It has enough patina and irregularity to prevent it looking overly polished or modern, while the elaborate iron scrollwork gives it an almost architectural quality.
And when there's no wine in it, it's attractive enough to leave out on display.
Condition
Good vintage condition with age-related patination, surface variation and marks to the metalwork which contribute to its rustic character.

From the Brocante Trail
There are certain pieces that seem perfectly at home in a French kitchen, and this is one of them.
We can imagine it sitting on the end of a long farmhouse table, holding the evening's bottle of red while plates and glasses gather around it.
It's practical, certainly — but it's the beautifully eccentric ironwork that made us notice it.
Every treasure has a story. This one found us on the Brocante trail. Now it’s waiting to become part of yours.
