A wonderful little survivor from the days when everyday kitchen ingredients arrived in beautifully made stoneware pots rather than disposable packaging.
This charming vintage Sharwood's Green Label Curry Paste jar was originally produced as packaging for the company's curry paste, made using genuine Madras curry powder.
Made from substantial glazed stoneware, these little advertising pots have become wonderfully collectible pieces of British kitchenalia. The original printed lettering gives it particular character and makes it instantly recognisable among a collection of old jars, pots and culinary advertising pieces.
Sharwood's has a long association with Indian-inspired foods in Britain, and examples of these Green Label pots are now sought after both by collectors and for their decorative appeal in traditional kitchens.
At 10cm tall and approximately 8cm wide, it's a lovely piece for adding interest to a kitchen shelf, dresser or collection of antique and vintage food jars.

Why We Like It
It's the sort of little object that could so easily have disappeared.
Originally nothing more than packaging for something kept in the kitchen cupboard, it has survived long enough to become a wonderfully decorative piece in its own right.
We particularly love old branded advertising pots because they look fantastic grouped together.
Place this alongside an old marmalade jar, mustard pot, French confit pot or stoneware preserve jar and you instantly begin to create that collected-over-time look of an old kitchen dresser.
And despite being only 10cm tall, the original Sharwood's typography gives this one plenty of character.
Condition
Fantastic vintage condition with no chips or cracks.
Perfect For
- Vintage kitchen displays, farmhouse kitchens, country cottages, kitchen dressers, collectors of advertising pottery and stoneware, restaurant styling, food photography and anyone building a collection of old culinary jars and pots.
From the Brocante Trail
We have a particular weakness for the everyday objects that were never intended to become antiques.
Once simply a jar of curry paste sitting in somebody's kitchen cupboard, decades later this little Sharwood's pot has become a fascinating piece of culinary history.
It's exactly the kind of small, characterful find we love discovering on the Brocante trail.
Every treasure has a story. This one found us on the Brocante trail. Now its waiting to become part of yours.
