Vintage Manuscript Writing & Wax Seal Set | Boxed Calligraphy Dip Pen & Sealing Kit

A beautifully presented vintage Manuscript writing and sealing set, housed in its original rich red-toned wooden presentation case.

Opening the brass-clasped box reveals a wonderfully nostalgic collection of traditional writing accessories, including an elegant marbled dip pen, calligraphy ink, sealing wax and a small brass-toned seal.

It has all the atmosphere of an old-fashioned writing desk – the sort of set that makes you want to sit down and write a proper letter.

The inside of the lid carries the colourful Writing & Sealing Set label together with the Manuscript branding, while the accessories are displayed against a dark interior that sets them off beautifully.

Why We Like It

There's something wonderfully romantic about traditional writing equipment.

Long before messages could be sent instantly, a handwritten letter, carefully folded and finished with a wax seal, was an object in its own right.

This set captures a little of that ritual.

We particularly like the combination of the dark marbled pen, rich red wooden case, sealing wax and little metal seal. Even when it's not being used, the open box makes a lovely display on an antique desk, bureau or bookshelf.

Condition

A pre-owned set with signs of previous use and age to the case and contents. There are some marks and surface wear to the wooden box, visible particularly on the lid.

Old writing sets have a charm that modern stationery rarely manages to recreate.
The dip pen, bottle of ink and sealing wax belong to a slower and rather more deliberate way of communicating – when choosing the paper, writing the letter and sealing the envelope were all part of the occasion.

Today it makes a lovely usable set, but perhaps an even better decorative piece for an old desk or bureau.
