Vintage French Épices Spice Jar with Lid – Red & Cream Ceramic Kitchen Storage Pot
Vintage French Épices Spice Jar with Lid – Red & Cream Ceramic Kitchen Storage Pot
Couldn't load pickup availability
A wonderfully characterful vintage French ceramic spice jar, traditionally marked “ÉPICES” in bold black lettering.
Finished in a warm creamy-white glaze with simple faded red line detailing, the jar has a beautifully shaped domed lid topped with a red-painted knob. The gentle crazing to the glaze, slight variations in the decoration and signs of age give it exactly the sort of timeworn character we love to find on the brocante trail.
Originally intended for storing spices in the French kitchen, today it makes a particularly attractive decorative piece for an open shelf, dresser or pantry. It would look wonderful amongst antique confit pots, ironstone, wooden chopping boards and other pieces of vintage French kitchenware.

Why We Like It
It's the simplicity that makes this one so appealing. The oversized black ÉPICES lettering against the creamy glaze, combined with those faded red bands, gives it an unmistakable old French kitchen feel.
The crazed glaze is particularly attractive and adds considerably to its decorative character rather than making the piece feel pristine or reproduction-like.
From the Brocante Trail
Pieces like this are exactly what make a collection of old French kitchenware interesting.
Once an everyday storage jar, it has developed the gentle wear and imperfections that give vintage pieces their individuality.
Style it on a kitchen shelf alongside old jars and bottles, use it as part of a French country kitchen display, or simply let the bold typography make it a little decorative feature in its own right.
Every treasure has a story. This one found us on the Brocante trail. Now it’s waiting to become part of yours.
