Bring the warmth and conviviality of a traditional French bar into your home with Les Spiritueux de France. Featuring Cognac, Armagnac, Calvados, Génépi, Pastis and fruit liqueurs, this richly illustrated vintage-inspired print celebrates the drinks, regions and traditions behind some of France's most distinctive spirits.

Les Spiritueux de France Collection No. 032 celebrates six drinks associated with different corners of French life and landscape. Cognac represents the great distilling traditions of Charente, while Armagnac recalls the ancient eaux-de-vie of Gascony. Calvados brings us north to the apple orchards of Normandy, while Génépi evokes the herbs and mountain air of the French Alps. Further south, Pastis captures the sunshine and café terraces of Provence, while traditional fruit liqueurs celebrate the berries and fruits found throughout the French countryside. Each is illustrated with vintage-style bottles, glasses, fruit, vines and botanicals, surrounded by scenes of vineyards, cellars and copper stills. Together they create a nostalgic celebration of l'art de la distillation the craftsmanship and traditions behind the spirits of France.

Artwork Inspiration

This print takes its inspiration from antique French drinks advertisements, distillery labels, vintage bottle designs and the beautifully illustrated promotional posters once found in cafés, bars and wine merchants across France. Rather than simply illustrating bottles, the artwork celebrates the places behind them orchards, vineyards, Alpine landscapes, old cellars and traditional copper stills. The result is designed to feel like a piece of vintage French ephemera that has survived from another era, bringing a little of the atmosphere of an old French bar or épicerie into a modern home.
