Bring the mellow colours of a late-summer French orchard into your home with Les Reines-Claudes, an elegant illustrated print celebrating one of France’s most cherished varieties of plum.

Heavy clusters of golden-green Reine-Claude plums hang from beautifully detailed branches amongst deep green leaves and delicate white blossom. Their colouring moves from fresh green and soft chartreuse through to warm honey and the faintest rosy blush, capturing the wonderfully understated appearance of ripe greengages.

At the foot of the illustration, whole fruits sit beside a cut Reine-Claude revealing its golden flesh and stone, adding the character of a traditional botanical fruit study.

The French inscription “Trésors du Verger à l’Ancienne – Douces, Fondantes & Parfumées” translates as Treasures of the Traditional Orchard – Sweet, Melting & Fragrant, a lovely description of the rich, honeyed flavour for which Reines-Claudes are prized.
