Les Fromages des Alpes Collection No. 038 celebrates the cheesemaking traditions of France's Alpine and Jura regions. The collection features: Beaufort the great cooked, pressed cheese of Savoie, traditionally made from mountain milk and known for its smooth texture and complex flavour. Reblochon the wonderfully creamy Haute-Savoie cheese famously associated with the Alpine dish tartiflette. Tomme de Savoie a rustic mountain cheese recognisable by its natural grey rind. Abondance a traditional Haute-Savoie cheese with a supple texture and characteristically nutty flavour. Morbier instantly recognisable by the distinctive dark line running through its centre. Bleu de Gex a soft and creamy blue cheese traditionally produced in the Jura mountains. Together they tell the story of a landscape where dairy farming, mountain pasture and cheesemaking have been connected for generations.

Artwork Inspiration

The artwork draws inspiration from vintage French agricultural posters, old regional food advertisements and illustrated guides to Alpine produce. At its heart is the traditional concept of terroir de montagne cheese shaped by altitude, pasture, seasons and generations of local knowledge. The surrounding illustrations of cattle grazing beneath mountain peaks, wooden farmhouses and wheels of cheese ageing inside stone cellars reinforce that connection between the landscape and the food it produces. It gives the artwork the appearance of an old illustrated guide that might once have been displayed in an Alpine épicerie or fromagerie.
